This month was definitely one of the worst months ever, maybe it was just last week or perhaps just that crazy Friday. That Friday which I crashed my mum’s car into someone’s rear on the ECP and when I got down, I realized that he has lots of kids on board, never feel that guilty ever. But it ended up ok, until I realized that someone had stolen my white bmx right off my yard in my condo. What the hell man. How can such things happen? All I can do is that I am going to curse that thief. You take my bike; you pay with your life. Mark my words.
Then I had to go back for reservist shooting. Its funny how I thought that NS will stop screwing my life up after those two years. Now I realized that I have to be screwed three times a year until I’m forty. The only thing that I really hate about Singapore is this. Not that I’m brokeback or that I can’t take hardship or all that crap, its just that I can’t stand the way they do things. Calling us back when they know that we have school and having to cut our hair for just one day that we have to go back. Zzz. Really pisses me off.
But of course the main event of this month was the floorskill asia 2006. although there was much hoohaa over the results, but the more important thing was that we have definitely learn a lot and going to improve a lot as a culture all together and those that do not jump on this bandwagon this time, is definitely going to be left behind. This year’s event saw Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand and Singapore of course. My favourite bboys for this year would be firstly farhan, completely home grown and he blew me away following the beats and the smooth flow. The next would be lama from Australia, heard he’s from zuluking and fresh sox and hes unreal. Footwork like nobody business and pure flow with great battle attitude. Troy from Australia was damn good too. He is from radikal forze too and he definitely showed the crowd what really new school and old school powermove was about. There were two Korean bboys that was not like the typical Korean bboys, following every beat and dancing like there was no tomorrow. The passion they showed and the stage presence, really is what bboying is about. I didn’t really like any body from Thailand except for oman, slow and steady with lots of raw power, i liked the way he did his tops and footwork and powermoves, but a pity he repeated quite a lot. This year I finally joined the comp. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be, maybe its cause of all the fuyo performances that I had done, especially the funkamania one, thanks larry. Thanks Charlie for asking me to join though, I would definitely have wished that hao had joined with us, but he couldn’t make it. But I was real glad that we got thru the first round. Some how I felt that we had a chance against radikal forze on the second round, at least we didn’t had to face the other foreign teams, but it would definitely be one of the best experiences of all. This being my first competition, I feel that I did ok, all the old moves must shift to reserve already, old school is the way to go. Last thing, thanks to felix for this event and my mentor, who else but ken swift of course, heh. =)
Then Sunday was the workshop held by teknyc. We all had fun at the workshop, learning top rock only, but the true value of the workshop was when teknyc talked about his experiences, how he judged, and the way he see bboying as. It was definitely inspiring. And hopefully, some day I will get to see ken swift in action, it would definitely be sublime. Heard that the armory cup is coming to Singapore, don know what it is, but the judges are machine, do knock and orb, woohooo~ more workshops I hope, haha. And all the international bboys that are going to come over to Singapore and all the stuff that we are going to learn. 2006 is going to be the year that I’m going to improve most as a bboy. Next year floorskills, I’m going to take more than a quarter-finalist.
